ANSWERS TO MOST COMMON QUESTIONS

I offer fees that are more affordable than most professional fees for psychotherapy in the Washington, DC area.

  • Most sessions are 60 minutes in length. The fee averages $220 for individual and couples therapy and $195 for parenting consultations.
  • Session fee includes follow-up e-mails and phone calls.
  • I will discuss a sliding scale for clients who cannot afford to pay my full fee.
  • Payment is due at the time of the appointment unless other arrangements have been made.

I accept cash, checks and credit cards.

I offer lower fees and will see clients on a sliding scale if necessary.  Most insurance companies will reimburse for a significant portion of your cost of therapy.

The receipt that I provide you for therapy at the end of the month is formatted to submit for reimbursement.  It will be up to you to submit to your own insurance company if you wish to do so.

Parent consults are not considered to be therapy.

I will work with you prior to our session to plan what you would like to accomplish in order to make the most of our face-to-face time together.

I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to help you determine whether therapy sessions or parenting consultations are the right course for you.

In the case of parenting consults, at least three meetings can enable positive change to occur.  After the initial meeting, we can consider meeting by video conference.  At the same fee $195/hr., I am happy to make a home or school visit too when that would be helpful.

Couples or individual therapy usually involves 8 – 10 visits, but the length of time is your decision.

A parent coach helps parents understand the reasons for their child’s behavior and teaches new, productive approaches to problems.

I will help you create a plan that will move you and your child in a more positive direction and support you as you practice new skills.  It helps to have an objective person with plenty of experience to see beyond the emotions, which are a natural part of parenting, to new solutions.

Couples therapy is a process that requires care and commitment.  It requires both individuals to be in agreement on working to improve the relationship.

Imago Therapy is a form of couples therapy that involves open communication in a safe environment.
