MY STORY

Why I Chose to be a Counselor and Parent Coach

I now have three grown children: two boys and a girl. Raising three children was a challenge for me, but the skills that I learned gave me confidence, and an approach that was positive and rewarding.  I started attending parenting education classes when my children were babies, and have raised my own children using the methods that I studied, then taught, at the Parent Encouragement Program in Kensington, Maryland.   Since then, I have helped hundreds of families find answers to their own parenting struggles: from bedtime and morning hassles, to school problems, sibling rivalry, defiance, poor self-esteem and much more.  I have been a counselor since 1982. Most recently, I have specialized in relationship counseling.  I use an approach that is collaborative and solution focused.

“I know how difficult parenting can be…”

I know how difficult it can be as a parent, raising children and keeping a healthy relationship with one’s adult partner; or raising children as a single parent. We all struggle at times, and can benefit from a counselor, or coach who can offer a clear, positive approach to making our relationships easier and more enjoyable.  This is the goal of my practice: Making the most important relationships, and the most important job in the world, easy and rewarding.  It takes love, but also a conscious understanding, safe and open communication, and practical skills to create a happy, healthy family environment.

“We can all benefit from a coach who can make our relationships easier and more enjoyable.”
